Float arms are buoyant devices that help us achieve close to neutral buoyancy for our underwater camera housing setups. They come in different forms – some are small, square or circular floats that slide over the plastic or metal arms that we use to attach strobes or other accessories to our housings.
Others are integrated arm units that attach on one side to our housing and on the other to our lights or other accessories, while providing lift as a result of their positive buoyancy,
Below is a list of some of our favorite float arm solutions.
These are our most popular float solutions, and probably the most widely used of any.
Compatible with:
- Ocean Tray
- Nauticam
- i-Das
- Ikelite
- Kraken
- Ultralight
- Any other “Ultralight style” ball joint arm.
BTS – 5 piece Buoyancy Float Package for Ultralight arms
Similar to StiX in terms of compatibility.
BTS floats for 3/4″ loc-line arms
Compatible with:
- Uni-Tray arms
- Any standard 3/4″ locline type arm
BTS floats for 1/2″ loc-line arms
Compatible with:
- Light and motion flex arms
- Backscatter flex arms
- Any standard 1/2″ loc-line type arm
Note that all of these float units are very easy to modify using a simple hacksaw or knife. If you have a different style arm, you can always modify these units to fit, or just cut them in half for fine-tuning the buoyancy.
And remember, we also have integrated float arms from Nauticam, Inon, Kraken and more!
