Frankly, it isn’t really needed.
The camera works very well with the built in macro mode and zoom. It can focus very close, almost on the lens.
That being said, a close up lens may be useful for super macro photos when fully zoomed in.
To mount a macro lens / diopter on the Tough cameras, you will first need a step up ring – 52-67mm, assuming you’re using the Olympus PT-056 / PT-058 / PT-059 housing.
With the step up ring you can mount any of the standard macro lenses available.

That being said, with a underwater housing is it still posible to fit a wet macro lens? Say +10 or more?
(I’m in to my super macro and I find that the TG5 while the macro settings are still amazing compared to other cameras, sometimes I still feel restricted on the tiny tiny things.

Yes of course, it’s very much possible.
If you’re using the Olympus housing, then you just need a 52-67mm step up ring, then you can attach any standard macro lens on top of it.

To use it properly, you zoom the camera all the way in, and the lens allows you to still get very close to subjects, thus creating magnification.

Wet macro lenses or macro filters ir diopters, whatever they are named, I understand achieve magnification by shortening minimum focusing distance of the camera lens to which they are attached to. If The TG-6 can already focus at 1 cm, what benefit could a wet macro lens provide?
I have read several articles, like yours, stating they can be attached to housing and benefit from them. Am I missing something in my “análisis”?

That’s a great question.
The good thing about the TG cameras is that they have excellent built in macro capabilities.
However, the minimum focus distance usually increases as you zoom in, so when putting on a macro lens is would allow you to shorten the minimum focus distance even with full zoom in order to get slightly more magnification with a larger working distance.
In reality, I found that it’s not really needed and the built-in macro is enough.
