Automatic mode on strobes, also known as TTL is the easiest way to use a strobe underwater. As a diver, you don’t have to worry about the strobe power and TTL chooses it for you.
However, in some cases, especially wide angle scenes, TTL doesn’t get it right or might not be accurate enough. In those cases, manual flash output comes in handy.
If you’re looking for a quick and easy lighting solution, that doesn’t require too many adjustments, go with TTL. If you are a more experienced user and would like to have full control over your lighting, opt for a strobe that has manual output as well.
The Sea&Sea YS-03 Solis is a great option for TTL only, easy as pie, with only OFF and ON modes.
The rest of the strobes we offer have both manual and TTL options, or just manual, such as the Kraken KR-S02.
Note that not all combinations would support TTL. It can vary according to different housings, bulkheads, triggers, cables and strobes. Make sure your combination works by asking out pros!
