Ikelite Announces RX-100 III Housing
Sony has recently announced the RX-100 III as a successor to the popular RX-100 II.
The new model’s major change is the lens range, dropped from 28-100mm to 24-70mm, while keeping a wider aperture along the zoom range (f/1.8 – f/2.8).
Sony has also upgraded the image processor, added a built-in 3-stop ND filter, removed the hotshoe and added a popup EVF instead and increased the tilt range to the LCD to 180 Deg.
Most online reviews so far agree that while it is not worthwhile upgrading from the Mark II to the Mark III, if you don’t yet own an RX100 series, the Mark III is definitely one of the best compacts available today.
The housing is available for pre-order here. Expected to start shipping mid to late July.
* Note that the RX-100 III is slightly thicker and it won’t fit in the RX-100 II or I housing.
