Featured Underwater Photographer – Martin Stevens

One of the best ways to learn photography is to see other photographers’ work. Mozaik looks for some of the best underwater photographers in the world, and showcase their work, along with the gear they use, to help other aspiring photographers improve, learn new skills and get inspired.

This week we will feature the talented Martin Stevens!

About Martin

I grew up in Leicester, which is about as far from the ocean as you can get in the UK, so it was only when I moved to Cornwall, with its incredible marine life, that I took up underwater photography. After a few years of taking essentially ID or records type shots, I got into underwater photography more seriously about 2-3 years ago. My main aim has been to capture the diversity of life, especially colours and patterns, around the UK and especially the Cornish coast. I started off with a GoPro and then moved onto a compact Canon set up.

Recently, I got the housing to use my Olympus EM-5 Mark III underwater, which is now the camera I use for both wide angle and macro. I enjoy scuba diving but take the vast majority of my photos freediving, snorkeling, or just in rock pools.

Martin’s Gear

Olympus 60 mm M Zuiko macro lens
Nauticam CMC-1 lens for super macro
