Featured Underwater Photographer – Khatty Yang
One of the best ways to learn photography is to see other photographers’ work. Mozaik looks for some of the best underwater photographers in the world, and showcase their work, along with the gear they use, to help other aspiring photographers improve, learn new skills and get inspired.
This week we will feature the talented Khatty Yang!
About Khatty
I am Malaysian who living Singapore and I have been diving for 15 years. Living at small island gave me a chance to dive with awesome buddies. I have been travel around in Southeast Asia countries. I was one of volunteer diver for Coral Nursery Project collaborated with Singapore agencies and university in year 2007 ~ 2012.
I have been involved in reef clean up Sabah Malaysia marine park which organise by Marine Research Foundation and Kota Kinabalu Diveranger since year 2018 till present. Recently, I have also start Bintan Coral Nursery Project during Covid-19, located at Riau Province Indonesia, collaborate with Bintan Black Coral.
Always people asking me “Why diving? Don’t you boring after so many years?” my respond to them “that’s my passion, I want to share underwater world through my photo, to show some creatures you not able to see in sea aquarium”.
I love macro photography, because not every diver can spot macro creatures underwater. One of my favourite dive site for macro diving at Anilao in Philippines, Bintan and Manado in Indonesia, Phuket in Thailand, last but not least, Singapore. I am more prefer colorful and creative photography which show different way of underwater marine life.

Currently, Im using Olympus TG6 with Seafrog housing, AOI Strobe Q1, AOI UCL-900 Pro Close up lense +23.5.
For personal equipment, always my favourite and trusted brand Crest from Taiwan fror Dive Computer CR5, Regulator & SMB, my BCD from Surface Tension, fin from V-dive.
