Featured Underwater Photographer – Joram Mennes

One of the best ways to learn photography is to see other photographers’ work. Mozaik looks for some of the best underwater photographers in the world, and showcases their work, along with the gear they use, to help other aspiring photographers improve, learn new skills and get inspired.

About Joram

Born in Formentera, the Balearic Islands, Spain

Diving since 1998, became a OWSI in 2001 and worked in Ibiza for a few years as a Summer Job.

Moved to the Caribbean Seas in 2006 Tulum Mexico where i first met the Cenotes, traveled around working several years in the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago and in 2010 decided to return to Mexico, Playa del Carmen.

Started Cave training, slowly guiding and learning the underwater Cave systems. As there is complex navigation, more than 5000 Cenotes and many Kms of lines connected from years of on- going explorations.

Picked up a DSLR in 2015 and moved into Photography, learning how to take photos in a very hostile environment,perfecting technique and working towards creating amazing scenarios in huge chambers, searching for unique places were to stop and take a photo, capturing natural light, hydrogen sulfide clouds and haloclines amongst huge speleothems, quite an amazing site.
