About Gonzalo

Although I was born in Madrid almost 44 years ago, I have spent my whole life near the sea. Since childhood I have spent long summers on the coast and my family has always had a house very close to the sea. I started diving about 25 years ago, more or less the same time that I started working as a photojournalist in a local newspaper in Valencia, the city where I lived at the time.

From my beginnings in photography I knew that I wanted to dedicate a significant part of my time to underwater photography, but it was not until relatively few years ago that I started to take it seriously and invest in equipment, except for a short period of time that I was messing around with an old Nikon and an Ikelite housing. About five years ago I bought a m4/3 camera, lens and Nauticam housing and have been shooting underwater ever since.

Shortly after, I bought another case for my Canon 5D mk IV and MK III, being the equipment that I currently use. I do reports on trips related to diving and the sea for the newspaper where I work in Madrid and sometimes I submit my photographs to some competitions in which I have received some prizes and honorable mentions. I have a predilection for wide-angle photography and I am especially interested in capturing large underwater scenes.
