Featured Underwater Photographer – Ariadna Pinazo

One of the best ways to learn photography is to see other photographers’ work. Mozaik looks for some of the best underwater photographers in the world, and showcase their work, along with the gear they use, to help other aspiring photographers improve, learn new skills and get inspired.

About Ariadna

My name is Ari and I’m actually quite new in this world, but completely fascinated by all the wonders that Neptune displays underwater for us.

Although I’ve always had a close relationship with the sea, it was only a few years ago when I decided to become a certified diver. I started discovering all those amazing creatures that can be found beneath the surface and those crazy underwater landscapes that become magic when the sun hits in the right angle. Not to mention that peaceful feeling during night dives (my favs!).

I felt that I had to share with my relatives and friends all those wonders. And we all know that a picture is worth a thousand words… So here I am, trying to find and capture (through an image!) as many species as possible to show why am I so in love with the underwater world.

Having a photo of these species is also really helpful for me, as I don’t have any scientific/marine biology background, and sometimes is hard to describe that new creature you just saw in order to identify it. And of course, the better the image, the easier it gets to recognize: so I force myself to improve my photography skills in order to have a decent own-catalogue of species: from wide angle to observe the whole animal and its environment to macro shots for tiny critters or specific details on larger species. Each type of picture gives us precious information about the subject.
