Featured Underwater Photographer – Aiden Conners

One of the best ways to learn photography is to see other photographers’ work. Mozaik looks for some of the best underwater photographers in the world, and showcases their work, along with the gear they use, to help other aspiring photographers improve, learn new skills and get inspired.

About Aiden

My name is Aiden Conners, I’m a recent graduate of Lasalle College’s photography program. I was born and raised in British Columbia, Canada and have lived here all my life. I started diving in 2019 on vacation in Hawaii. I’ve loved the ocean since I was a kid, and instantly felt at home underwater. I returned home to Canada and signed up for a Career Development Program to become a Scuba Instructor through Ocean Quest Dive Centre. I’ve currently been teaching scuba almost 2 years, and have also become a very active technical diver.

In regard to photography, I’ve currently been shooting underwater for about 2.5 years. I started with a second-hand Sea life micro I found on craigslist, and only upgraded to a professional set up a little over a year ago. I’ve always loved nature photography, but the combination of photography with diving is what really lead me to discover my passion for it. I love the challenge of shooting in such a dynamic environment, especially with the added pressure of managing gas and decompression time. Not only is It exciting, but it’s something I feel I can do forever as there’s always more to learn and more to see. My goal as a photographer is to capture the natural beauty of our planet and share it with those who may not get to experience it themselves.
