Featured Underwater Photographer – Yo Tanawut

I’m Yo Tanawut, a Underwater Photographer based in Bangkok, Thailand. My journey into the underwater world began with a passion for diving, which naturally evolved into a deep love for underwater photography.

Fueled by my love for the ocean, I use my underwater camera to capture the stories of the ocean, including its events, emotions, and feelings. I personally learn a lot of things from the ocean. From time to time change the same location but the surface and deep down into the water nothing to be the same. Sometime it’s changing in a single minute., That’s the power of the ocean, So I felt excited every single time that I have a chance to dive with my camera in the hand to capture all the moment that I could., I want to share more and more story of the underwater world to the people who’s surrounded me to make them to feel what I feel., to make them to see what I see., My hope is to make them to care the ocean and to love the ocean same as mine.

When we talk about photos in the ocean it’s separated by 2 types: Wide Angle and Macro.,Wide Angle is about the natural and a regular landscape size. Macro is the Animal too small in size such as 10 cm – mili centimate. In the macro world, it is quite a new life for me to know the “Sea Slug” that I never knew before.. I fall in love with them from time to time. Then study to identify, Where they usually live and food to eat., So then I can know where to search for them.

The inspiration to take the photo underwater is about Light., For me lighting creates a new perspective, allowing me to make the composition of images more marvelous. The challenge for underwater photographers is to communicate the stories of the colorful underwater world, revealing the essence of the ocean’s beauty. I mostly prefer macro photography, which allows me to unveil the intricate details of marine life. I hope that my photos will inspire others to appreciate the beauty and fragility of the ocean. I want them to see the ocean through my eyes to feel its power and mystery and to care for it as deeply as I do.
