One of the best ways to learn photography is to see other photographers’ work. Mozaik looks for some of the best underwater photographers in the world, and showcases their work, along with the gear they use, to help other aspiring photographers improve, learn new skills and get inspired.

This week we will feature the talented Serdar Avci!

About Serdar

I live in Turkey, on the coast of the Marmara Sea, one of the most special seas in the world. I recommend my friend reading this text to find the map of the Marmara Sea and research its features. A special inland sea was formed by the passage of more than one sea.

I am a diver with 10 years of experience who has learned to eliminate the stress of life under water. I do most of my diving in Marmara. Although the visibility is not always very good, it is a very generous sea, especially with the macro features it offers us.

Land photography has been one of my hobbies for many years, and I started taking a camera with me during my dives and found myself on an endless underwater imaging journey. I began to rediscover places where I had dived hundreds of times, as if I had never dived before. This started to give me pleasure beyond diving. I have been enjoying my work by participating in underwater photography competitions in my country for the last two years.

I think one of the most basic points of photography is watching other photos. Whenever I get the chance, I review other photographers’ portfolios.

You can find many photographs in my portfolio, most of them from Turkey and the Marmara Sea.

Serdar’s Work

With global warming changing the entire balance in the world, we have been seeing jellyfish species that have not been seen before in our region in recent years. I don’t forget to take photos.

The blue color in one eye of the fish represents the seas, and the green color in the other eye represents the forests. Their angry looks are directed at humanity that does not protect nature. I named this photo the name of the city I live in, “KARAMURSEL”.
