Featured Underwater Photographer – Rowan Dear

One of the best ways to learn photography is to see other photographers’ work. Mozaik looks for some of the best underwater photographers in the world, and showcases their work, along with the gear they use, to help other aspiring photographers improve, learn new skills and get inspired.

About Rowan

I grew up in the countryside in Wales, living far away from my friends. So my days were spent roaming around the fields, watching for birds, badgers, foxes, hedgehogs, or whatever animals I could find.

I loved being out in nature, and still do, however I have now swapped the land for the sea.

I love exploring the ocean, with my camera and trying to find new animals, new behaviors and try and get the best photograph possible to show people what it was I experienced.

Whilst I have been diving for 6 years now, I have only been taking pictures for the last 3.

After having one of my best dives in Byron Bay, Australia, in 2020 and seeing the amazing pictures someone on my group got, and all I had was some gopro videos, I finally decided it was time to jump into underwater photography.

I try and dive as much as I can, so I can keep trying to improve my skills, learn new techniques and get some photographs that people will say ‘’wow’’ when they see them.
