Top Product Features:
  • Ikelite has released a fantastic afforadable housing for the successor of the popular E-M5 by Olympus. Ikelite basically took the format of their DSLR housings and shrunk it down into a perfectly-sized package for travel. A new line of MIL ports has been introduced to support many popular lenses. No Port Included! Contact us for port options.
  • TTL or "Through-The-Lens" flash metering means the camera controls flash duration to properly expose an image. Our built-in proprietary circuitry tells your camera that a TTL external flash is attached, allowing the camera to adjust exposure more accurately than with slave TTL strobes.
  • The Ikelite Super-Eye Magnifier, provided with the housing, is secured to the camera eyepiece and offers enhanced viewing while wearing a diving mask, An assortment of interchangeable lens ports allows use of most macro, wide angle, and zoom lenses.
  • Release handles with comfortable rubber grips allow for easy attachment and removal of mounting arms at the touch of a button. Two 12-24 screws remove the handle and tray assembly for traveling. A 1/4-20 threaded top mount allows for attachment of extra gear.
  • Non-Ikelite strobes can be used, but they cannot provide eTTL exposure or be adjusted manually through the housing. Special sync cords are available to connect non-Ikelite strobes from Nikonos, Inon, and Sea & Sea.

The True TTL Advantage

Other housings simply waterproof your camera. An Ikelite TTL housing improves your photos. TTL or "Through-The-Lens" flash metering means the camera controls flash duration to properly expose an image. Our built-in proprietary circuitry tells your camera that a TTL external flash is attached, allowing the camera to adjust exposure more accurately than with slave fiber optic TTL strobes.

Fiber optic slave flash units require the camera's flash to fire every time. Firing the camera's flash creates a shutter lag as you wait for the it to recycle in between shots, drains your camera's battery life, and builds up heat inside of the housing. Ikelite electronics translate direct electrical impulses from your camera, triggering your strobe and precisely adjusting its power without the need to fire the camera's flash. This eliminates the slave TTL strobe issues of signal interference, inconsistent exposure due to weak fiber optic transmission and false triggering caused by light rays bouncing off the water's surface or your buddy's flash going off.

This camera does not have a built-in flash. In order to keep the housing as compact as possible, attachment of the camera's external flash is not supported in this installation. Non-Ikelite strobes may be attached with the appropriate electrical sync cord and operate non-TTL (manual exposure modes only) with this housing.

Fiber Optic

The OM-D E-M5 Mark II does not have a built-in flash, rather it is bundled with an accessory flash which attaches to the camera's hotshoe. In order to keep the housing as compact as possible, space is not available to attach the camera's accessory flash. Therefore it is not possible to trigger an external strobe via fiber optic cable.

Take full advantage of this powerful and compact camera by attaching a compatible external strobe via electrical sync cord. Electrical sync connection is the standard in surface photography and provides the added benefits of lighting fast recycle times and extended camera battery life. Sync cords are available for most popular strobes by Ikelite, SEA&SEA, INON, and Nikonos. Non-Ikelite strobes are not capable of powering the built-in TTL electronics, therefore must be used in manual power settings.

Lens Port System

Our Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Ports represent the most versatile, affordable, and astonishingly effortless system on the market today. Each port simply slides onto the front of the housing and secures with three thumbscrews, which provide positive reinforcement that the port is secure without any complex moving parts that can jam or break in a remote location.

Ports are available with either optical grade acrylic dome for wide angle zoom photography, or a glass flat front to focus on macro close-up. Unique interchangeable zoom sleeves are super lightweight and allow the camera to be slide into the housing with the lens attached for easy installation.

A compatible lens port is required for waterproof operation of this housing. Lens ports sold separately. View our Mirrorless Port Charts to find the right match for your zoom, macro, and wide angle lenses from Olympus and Panasonic.

Viewing

The camera's large, super-bright LCD screen is viewable edge-to-edge through the back of the housing. A built-in magnifying viewfinder includes specially optics to provides a clear view of the camera's EVF when wearing a dive mask. This housing is also compatible with our Straight and 45° Magnified Viewfinders, sold separately, see below.

After you surface, use the camera's built-in WiFi function to transfer your photos for viewing on a compatible smartphone or tablet. Our signature polycarbonate construction allows the WiFi signal to pass through the housing for instant gratification!

Ergonomics

Controls are put right at your fingertips for all important camera functions. Control symbols laser engraved into the back of the housing will never peel off or fade even with years of use.

With a system of this caliber, a tray with handle is essential for the attachment of lighting and comfortable handling in a wide variety of shooting scenarios. This housing includes a balanced aluminum tray with our signature quick release handle for easy attachment and removal of strobes and video lights. This unique handle is curved slightly to fit the nature curvature of your hand, and features a soft rubber over-mold which makes it a delight to hold. The complete tray and handle detaches with the removal of two nuts for packing or to attach the optional Tray with Dual Handles.

Smaller than most other comparable mirrorless housings on the market, this system is as compact as possible to minimize bulkiness, strain, and drag in the water.

Construction

Special polycarbonate blends allow us to create an extremely strong yet clear and lightweight enclosure. We believe there's no substitute for inspecting the actual o-ring seal once your housing is closed. Our signature clear construction lets you see that the housing is watertight and dry before you enter the water, and provides full view of the camera while you're diving. Unlike aluminum, polycarbonate is fundamentally corrosion-resistant for easy maintenance year after year.
