One of the best ways to learn photography is to see other photographers\u2019 work. Mozaik<\/a> looks for some of the best underwater photographers in the world, and showcase their work, along with the gear they use, to help other aspiring photographers improve, learn new skills and get inspired.<\/p>\n

This week we will feature the talented Aaron Bull!<\/strong><\/p>\n

I have spent the past 7 years working as an Underwater Photographer and Videographer in some of the most desirable diving destinations in the world. Having completed my Divemaster training in England, I began my journey into the world of professional diving on the island of Koh Tao in the Gulf of Thailand. Having always had a love for photography, transferring these skills to underwater was a natural progression for me. I spent almost 2 years working as an underwater photographer and videographer for various dive schools around the island, honing my skills creating video and photo packages for the constant stream of people completing dive courses there.<\/p>\n

In 2016, I worked on the thriving Ningaloo Coast of Western Australia, spending my days working as a photographer on the world-renowned Whale Shark and Manta Ray tours, as well as being part of the first team of dive pros to trial Humpback swimming tours on the Ningaloo Coast. Some of my most memorable underwater experiences to date took place on the Ningaloo Reef, with so many amazing once-in-a-lifetime encounters with whale sharks, mantas, grey reef sharks, tiger sharks, humpback whales among many other species. Working on this shallow reef with large, speedy pelagic animals forced me to progress my freediving photography skills, as most diving here is done without a tank!<\/p>\n

In 2018 \u2013 2019, I toured and worked as a photo and video creator with dive centres in Indonesia, spending time in the incredible Komodo National Park, Raja Ampat and The Gili Islands. Diving in the strong currents of these areas, enabled me to further enhance my skills in diving and photography, as well as giving me some of the most exhilarating underwater experiences among some of the best and most diverse coral and marine life on the planet; from huge oceanic manta rays to microscopic pygmy seahorses and almost everything in between. Diving from liveaboards in Komodo and Raja Ampat were some of my most memorable experiences, both on the surface and underwater!<\/p>\n

In 2019 – 2021 I worked as a photographer in dive centres in 3 different resorts in The Maldives. This included land-based photography work as well as underwater work. The Maldives has become one of my favourite places to dive, due to its strong currents and some of the healthiest shark populations I\u2019ve witnessed, with action-packed channel and thila dives, as well as unforgettable Manta and Whale Shark encounters. Some of my best diving in The Maldives (possibly ever) have been on liveaboards in the Central Atolls and I cannot wait to be able to go back and dive in The Deep Southern Atolls!<\/p>\n

I am now taking some time out from diving and underwater photography, spending some quality time with family back in the UK after almost 3 years away. I am currently working on creating an online training course that will help people to live their dreams of becoming traveling, underwater creators like myself; teaching them the skills to create mind-blowing content in incredible places, combining land, aerial and underwater imagery for brands and clients full time.<\/p>\n
