Amazing Video of Grouper Killing an Invasive Lionfish in Open Water
The following video was taken by Jim Hart, co-founder and executive director of Lionfish University.
It shows a first of its kind, uninterrupted, documentation of a Grouper hunting down and eating an invasive Lionfish in the Cayman Islands, without encouragement of any kind by a diver.
The Lionfish invasion in the Caribbean is a huge problem which has caused a lot of damage to the reefs and marine life over the years. The Lionfish University consists of a “group of divers dedicated to the preservation of our ocean’s reefs and native fish populations which are threatened by the Lionfish invasion in the Caribbean”.
