Sony Releases A New Flagship Full Frame – Alpha A9 II

Sony have just released what very well might be the best mirrorless camera in existence. Aimed at professional photographers, the Sony A9 II utilizes the latest technology in nearly every aspect, improving on the A9 with a more rugged body, better grip, faster and smarter AF and an improved processor.

The Sony A9 II is for underwater photographers looking for top quality in a fairly compact rig. That is, if you’re willing to pay the hefty price tag of $4500 USD (body only).

While keeping the same 24MP Full Frame sensor and lightning fast 20fps continuous shooting, Sony has borrowed some top features from the A7R IV, including the 5.5 stop image stabilization, dust and weather resistance as well as the touch screen.

A new addition is the option to connect an Ethernet cable for remote shooting via laptop, which might be useful for UW photographers working in pool, with housings that support it (Nauticam will likely offer that option).

Underwater housings for the Sony Alpha A9 II will be released soon. Stay tuned!
