Olympus announces the OM-D E-M5 III – Housings will soon follow
The Olympus OM-D E-M5 series were extremely popular for underwater photography so the news of a new model coming out is very exciting.
The main advantage of this new model, besides a higher 20MP image resolution is the speed. This camera can shoot 6 fps with mechanical shutter, 10 fps with electronic shutter and 30 fps with auto focus locked. The body of this camera is smaller which agin is excellent news and still features the 5-axis image stabilization system which is a great feature of this camera.
Also added is 4K video in 30p or Full HD in 120p.
The camera is also fully weatherproof which means you can shoot in the rain, wind or pretty much any conditions. This is excellent for underwater photographers which many of their shots are on a boat or the beach.
It is not clear yet whether there will be an Olympus housing for the OM-D E-M5 III but surely Ikelite and Nauticam will release one as soon as the camera comes in to the market.
Underwater housings for this camera will be listed here once available.
