Featured Underwater Photographer – Matthew Sullivan

One of the best ways to learn photography is to see other photographers’ work. We try to find some of the best underwater photographers in the world, and showcase their work, along with the gear they use, to help other aspiring photographers improve, learn new skills and get inspired.

This week we will feature the talented Matthew Sullivan!

About Matthew

I have been diving since I was 10, so I’m now only a few years away from being two decades in! Sea creatures and the ocean have consumed my interest for as long as I can remember, and there is still no place I’d rather be, than underwater. My first dive trip, my parents gave me a little Kodak disposable camera. Looking back on those pictures now, they are comically bad. But it didn’t matter, camera in hand and being underwater have forever been joined since and I like to think I have come a very long way since then in terms of photographic skill. The last few years I have begun taking photography much more seriously, and there is nothing I enjoy more than capturing images of wildlife, especially in the water. I believe it is our duty as photographers to show people the amazing aquatic worlds and creatures that exist and to spark some level of interest or passion in others, through our images. I hope to be able to pursue my own passion for underwater image making and dive travel for a long time to come. If you need me, I’ll be beneath the waves.
