Featured Underwater Photographer – Franck Fogarolo
One of the best ways to learn photography is to see other photographers’ work. Mozaik looks for some of the best underwater photographers in the world, and showcase their work, along with the gear they use, to help other aspiring photographers improve, learn new skills and get inspired.
This week we will feature the talented Franck Fogarolo!
About Franck
A nature lover since his childhood, Franck Fogarolo started his career as a horse riding instructor in France and the UAE. He discovered the treasure of the underwater world during his weekend on the Arabian Sea. He bought a small compact camera to bring back cherished memories but quickly realised how breath holding was limiting the quality of his pictures and that’s when he decided to become a scuba diver.
Little did he know his passion for underwater photography would bring him where he is today: Dive Instructor, co-owner and operator of The Smiling Seahorse in Thailand, a well appointed liveaboard for underwater photographers: a camera room worthy of the most luxurious vessel and blackwater diving on every cruise, photo clinics and personalised photographer’s coaching.
His trusted Nikon Cameras did over 3000 dives in his company around the Andaman Sea and photographed most of the marine life you can encounter in the area from the smallest skeleton shrimp to the largest Mantas. Franck knows Thailand and Myanmar’s west coast very well and besides being the tour leader on this eco-friendly dive vessel, he now also provides his photography services to guests onboard.
Franck loves exploring new artistic angles and innovative techniques to change his photography style and reinvent a subject. He loves sharing his work as a way to show the world the beauty that lies under the surface and inspiring non-divers to love and protect the ocean.
