Featured Underwater Photographer – Francisco Sedano

One of the best ways to learn photography is to see other photographers’ work. Mozaik looks for some of the best underwater photographers in the world, and showcase their work, along with the gear they use, to help other aspiring photographers improve, learn new skills and get inspired.

This week we will feature the talented Francisco Sedano!

About Francisco

Francisco Sedano grew up in Sevilla (Spain) but since he was little he enjoyed spending his summers in the subtropical coast of Granada.

It was there were he developed a passion for marine life, starting snorkelling at the age of 7. He studied biology and completed a PhD in marine ecology on defensive coastal infrastructure. He is now a High School Biology Teacher and can’t think of anything more rewarding than transferring knowledge about the natural world to the new generations.

With his images, he tries to raise awareness of the beauty of marine biodiversity bringing it closer to the general public.

To this end he uses any techniques or softwares available, being passionate about artistic interpretations. This discipline has brought him important international awards including two wins in the United Nations World Oceans Day Photo Contest (2021 and 2020, Digital Ocean Photo Art category) and first place in the 2019 Ocean Art Underwater Photo Contest (Underwater Art category).

However, he also enjoys the most purist photography and takes part regularly in regional photo contests (where no edits are permitted), receiving medals in various categories.
