A very lucky group of eco-tourists went out kayaking as part of a tour with the Shedd Aquarium in the coastal water of Baja, Mexico.

Just before leaving shore they were surprised by two bizarre 15 feet long creatures, apparently trying to beach themselves on shore.

These bizarre creatures are the elusive Oarfish – a species that are rarely sighted ( alive ) by humans and usually swim in the deep waters. Most research on these mysterious fish has been conducted on beached Oarfish and the first documented video of a live one was captured in deep waters in 2011 by scientists using a remotely operated vehicle.

The Giant Oarfish can grow up to 36 feet (11 meters) and are considered the longest bony fish alive.

Eventually the 2 Oarfish managed to beach themselves and dying, but the 30-min show they gave will not soon be forgotten.
