DEMA Highlights – Chapter 3
Aquatica has displayed their new HD Wave housing for the 2011 Sony camera models. While this housing is a mechanical one, Aquatica has developed a small , ergonomic housing that almost feels electronic being contoured to the camera so well. This housing is already shipping.
HD Monitors for DSLR cameras are only now starting to penetrate the market with more and more photographers wanting to shoot high quality video with their DSLR’s. Backscatter are displaying their Wahoo Housing for the Sony CLM-V55 Monitor that currently works with Nauticam housings or Aquatica housings through a custom made HDMI Cable penetrating the housing through one of the spare bulkheads. The downside is , they have not yet managed to make a plug for such a complex cable and as such once the monitor is installed it cannot be removed.
Aquatica, having purchased Amphibico, are now displaying their own housing for the Ninja Monitor that will be connected to the cameras Video Out plug rather than the HDMI cable. This will allow disconnecting the monitor and will provide a great solution for HDSLR Video.
Light and Motion have listened to the crowd and modified their SOLA line to meet better the demands of the market. In the photo line , the SOLA 500 will now be cheaper by removing the Red light from it and 2 new models have been added , the 800 and the 1200 , both with Red light mode.
In the video Line , a new 2000 Video light has been released which we expect to be an excellent seller.
The expected SOLA 4000 from last DEMA should start shipping this month and will probably become the professional choice for publish quality video. A special Dual package has been presented in DEMA which will offer a Premium case , filters and a discounted price for 2 x 4000 Lumen lights.
Gopro was everywhere at this show and L&M presented their tray and arm system with a gopro housing and the SOLA Video 2000 Light.
L&M will probably continue to lead the underwater light market this year as well even with the tough competition that can be seen around.
