GoPro has announced at CES 2015 in Las Vegas, that the Hero4 is about to get a firmware upgrade which will benefit existing and future users.

Here’s a summary of the updates which should arrive withing the next few months:

  • Addition of time-lapse video mode which converts time-lapse images into video in-camera without having to go through the editor.
  • 2 New video resolutions – 720p at 240fps and 2.7K at 60fps. Both would allow smooth video for regular speed and slow-motion.
  • HiLight feature during playback to remember when something exciting happened and use it in editing.
  • Slow burst mode – 30 frames in 6 seconds.
  • Auto-rotate photos and videos when the camera is upside down.
