Ikelite Releases Two Underwater Housings for Canon G7X II

Ikelite Canon G7X II Underwater Housing

Ikelite have just announced the release of 2 different underwater housings for the new and much anticipated Canon G7X  Mark II.

The G7X Mark II presents some significant improvements over its predecessor, such as:

  • 180 degrees screen articulation
  • New Digic7 chip, improving burst rate, image sharpness and less noise.
  • 8 fps on JPG and RAW!
  • Improved battery life
  • Optional USB charging
  • Improved Image Stabilizer
  • Improved object tracking

Ikelite has chosen to manufacture two different housings for the G7X II – A standard housing and a compact action housing.

Both housings are currently available for Pre-Order only, and will start shipping mid-July.

The standard housing (6146.08) features full easy-to-reach controls to all the camera’s functions, including the front and rear dials, two fiber optic connectors, 67mm threaded flat port (optional WD-3 dome available) and a newly designed ultra sensitive shutter lever – a significant improvement from previous Ikelite housings.

The standard housing is available HERE for $550.

The action housing is designed as a more affordable, travel friendly, basic housing for the G7X II. Priced at only $299, this lightweight housing will protect your G7X II from the elements and allow you to dive down to 200ft, while keeping your setup as small as possible.

This housing allows access to important camera functions including the menu and manual white balance.  However, it will not allow triggering external strobes or use the internal one, so stick to ambient light or video lights on this one. It still comes with a 67mm threaded port, so wet lenses are welcome. Most importantly, this housing is less than 1/2 the weight and significantly smaller than a traditional underwater housing.

The action housing for the G7X II is available HERE for $299.
