Ikelite Housing for Nikon D5500 Has Been Released

Ikelite have just announced the release of their housing for the new Nikon D5500!

The D5500 is considered the smallest DSLR made by Nikon, which makes it perfect for underwater.

However, as opposed to the Canon 100D (Rebel SL1) which Ikelite were able to house in a special smaller housing similar to their MIL line, the D5500 housing is a standard Ikelite DSLR Housing.

The main improvement of the Nikon D5500 over the previous D5300 is the smaller size, which is due to the market’s interest in mirrorless cameras, and the addition of a touch screen, which is nice to have above water. The battery life has also been improved significantly (about 25% better).

Bottom line, Nikon didn’t make a huge upgrade from previous models but the Nikon D5500 is definitely a great camera to consider if you are in the market for a new DSLR, and should work perfectly underwater.
