DEMA Highlights – Chapter 2
As promised below are more highlights from the 2nd and 3rd day of the DEMA show in Orlando. Stay tuned for more as there will be chapter 3 and 4 as well.
Sealife has released their new underwater camera, the DC1400. The main features are one touch HD video, superior image quality , x5 zoom at 14MP. The camera seems easy to use , well designed and offers custom white balance that can be determined according to the depth of the dive. There is also an easy setup that allows choosing between Land , Underwater , Snorkeling and Diving. The piano keys on the bag are simple and easy (Nauticam is using this design now as well) so this camera is a no-brainer for a diver wanting to get his first underwater camera. Their best package offers a guide number 14 strobe and a 500 Lumen video light with 3 light levels.
Fantasea have announced the FP7100 which is the improved model of FP7000 housing for the Nikon P7000. This new camera has faster menus , enhanced auto focus and tilt able LCD screen. The housing has some new addons such as a back shade for the LCD monitor and a hand strap for easy grip.
Fantasea are displaying their new enhanced optics line for Canon housing , with an insertable red filter that can be used with or without the wide angle lens.
Aquatica released a 45 degree viewfinder which should start shipping towards the end of the year.
Aquatica’s TLC (Arm Systems) Displayed a quad ball mount that allows mounting up to 4 arms on one handle. Probably most will use 3 or 3 mounts but this offers many options for attached video lights and other accessories.
Aquatica has displayed a Macro Diopter mount that goes on top of their flat Macro port and is aimed for using with a 100mm or 105mm Macro lens. This allows mounting a diopter (2 are offered +5 and +10) for better macro shots. The diopters are offered with a 67mm thread so they are mount able on most camera systems , the holder and diopters will be offered separately or as a package for between 500-600$.
Aquatica has acquired Amphibico and is getting the ball rolling with their new line of video housings for Sony replacable lens video cameras , the Sony FS100US HXCAM. This housing is made from a solid aluminum block just like Aquatica and will have an external top monitor option as well as full electronic controls from the very ergonomic Amphibico handles.
Stay tuned for chapter 3 with more highlights from the DEMA 2011 show.
