Dema 2014 Summary Part III
Light & Motion
Light & Motion have significantly upgraded their whole SOLA line-up, offering more lumens, more features and packed in cool new white outer shell.
SOLA’s new torches carry on the SOLA name proudly, remaining factory sealed, high-end lights. This time SOLA integrated a new FC – Fast Charge mechanism to most of the lights, reducing the charge time significantly (from 2.5 hours to about 1.5 hours).
Among the new lights presented we could find the Dive 1200 featuring Flood / Spot modes, the SOLA 3000 Flood, with a strong 3000 Lumen output, the SOLA Nightsea, for fluorescence photography, SOLA 2100 Flood / Spot for those who need some extra power from the 1200 model, and more great lights for every type of diving and photography.
All new SOLA models are already available now! Browse them here.
Intova
At the Intova booth we got to play around with the 2 new action cam models – the Edge X and the Nova. The Nova is a great new version of the Sport HD with better features and improved quality.
The Edge X is the most serious innovation by Intova. First of all it comes in a much sexier black housing and a new locking mechanism. The camera itself can produce 1080p @ 60fps video, and top notch still photos. It has built in WiFi, lens correction feature, manual controls if needed, time lapse mode and many more great features. The highlight is that it supports external strobe via fiber optic cables! Thanks to a small LED which triggers the strobe, for the first time you can get lighting for still shot in an action cam. We saw this work live at the booth with the PX21 flash and it was pretty amazing.
Both the Edge X and the Nova are compatible with all previous Intova accessories, filters, wet lenses etc.
Sealife
Sealife’s newest hit camera is the Micro HD/HD+, a first of its kind Permanently Sealed action cam, featuring full 1080p HD video and 12MP photos, with a built-in underwater modes which acts like a red filter, thus producing excellent colors straight off the camera.
Sealife has also created some very nice lighting packages this year, consisting of their 2000 Lumen Sea Dragon and the Sea Dragon Strobe.
Check out this crazy video taking you through the whole DEMA show in just about 90 seconds. Taken with the Sealife Micro HD.
Not for the weak-hearted! 😉
That’s it for this year!
We can’t wait for next year – DEMA 2015!
