Bio

Robin Aiello has spent most of her life on, and under, the oceans of the world. It is her passion! She graduated from Harvard University with highest honors in Evolutionary Biology & Marine Biology, and has dedicated her life and career to caring for the environment.

After University she worked as a scientific Expedition Leader in some of the most exotic and remote areas of the world. Some of the amazing adventures that she has had include camping for four months in the Ross Sea, Antarctica and diving under 5-meter thick ice to study jellyfish, living in the underwater research habitat called the Aquarius (in St Croix, US Virgin Island) for two weeks while studying coral reef ecology under the auspices of NASA, diving into marine caves throughout the Pacific in search of ancient invertebrates called brachiopods and sclerosponges, diving with Minke whales & Humpback whales, as well as thousands of large sharks  including Makos, Bulls and of course, Great Whites.

Robin immigrated to Australia in 1992 to live on the Great Barrier Reef and work as a coral reef researcher and lecturer at several Australian research institutions and soon began her own environmental consulting business specializing in marine resource management, conservation and education. For years, she concentrated on how to control infestations of Crown-of-Thorns starfish.

She is a frequent keynote speaker at international conferences and for Smithsonian Institute study groups.

Since 2004, Robin has been working on Expedition Cruise ships as lecturer and Zodiac driver, sailing and exploring most all regions of the world., including the Antarctic, Arctic, Russia Far East, Alaska, South Pacific, , South America, Africa, Melanesia, Polynesia, Micronesia, British Isles, Indian Ocean and Caribbean. She also guides exclusive dive and snorkel trips to remote parts of the world.

She was the recipient of the Australian EcoWarrior Award and the International Earth Ambassador Award, and just recently has been recognized as probably the first woman scuba diver in Antarctica for her research diving in 1987.
